The Market went ahead despite the threatening inclement weather on the Friday prior to the market – what a gorgeous morning it turned out to be!
The Shire Clerks Cottage was open to the public for a gold coin donation and we had a steady flow of people going through to enjoy our local heritage.
Devonshire Tea was served on the verandah and was well received by many market-goers who mentioned that they had just eaten the best scones ever, another triumph for our Canteen Convener Bev Weeks.
We received many positive comments about the cottage and in particular praise for our beautiful hostess, Iris Brewer who dressed for the occasion greeting visitors at the door. Stall holders also complimented the WBLC on our venue around the cottage, the terrific organisation facilitated by our excellent Market Convener Julie Dixon.
Julie puts many hours into organizing the market and her dedication has resulted in a growing event. We would consider opening the Cottage with Devonshire Tea on a regular basis to the public providing we are able to have the support of more volunteers. (Yes I realise I sound like a broken record).
Many thanks again to our local members Peter Cummings, Joan Pease and Ross Vasta for providing gazebos for the event and our great volunteers who provided assistance throughout the day and week prior to the event
