May 2018 News: Eisteddfod, Open Day, and anyone for Table Tennis?

The Wynnum Manly Eisteddfod started on 28th April this year and we have been very busy in the canteen providing snacks and meals for participants and the Adjudicators. A huge thanks to our fabulous volunteers who year after year give up their time to support the Centre. I must also mention our male volunteers, Trevor, Tom and Gene who have not only helped with the Eisteddfod but were instrumental in the erection and pulling down of the gazebos for the market.

The Shire Clerk’s Cottage Open Day and Market has resulted in an increase in enquiries and bookings for our venue, it will be good to see more funds coming into the facility as we are always looking to make improvements.

The Table Tennis group has recently been the recipients of 2 new tables. Feedback has been very positive and the group is slowly increasing their numbers.

You may have noticed workmen and banging from the Meals on Wheels end of the building. The Council have finally gotten round to replacing the roof. This has been an ongoing saga with the Brisbane City Council, so it is great to finally have the replacement done.

Has anybody noticed the large Paperbark tree that came down recently close to the creek? It has a huge trunk and is probably around 100 yrs old. Luckily it did not cross the creek and affect our near neighbours. The Council are intending cleaning it up and leaving the trunk.

Please note the Notice Board in the Activity Room, the Quilters Group are looking for people to travel to Toowoomba for the Carnival of Flowers. Contact details on board.
